Facility introduction
This building is a two-story wooden clapboard with oil paint built in 1915, and it inherits the style of the so-called foreigners’ house of the Meiji era, such as the open veranda and bay wind.
As a result of the open recruitment of the house’s nickname in Showa 53(1978) when it was opened to the public, the name Rhine House was given.
A repair work was carried out since the chimney fell and the internal walls were cracked by the previous earthquake.
Today lounge room, exhibition room, and souvenir shop are located on the first floor and history of Kitano ijinkan-gai and exhibition related to earthquake are displayed on the second floor. We make an effort to create welcoming atmosphere.
In April 2019 it was reopen after the earthquake countermeasures and preservation repair work of the building,
